Rectangle Rules, Perimeter and Editing our Arctic Stories!

Reminder: There is no school Friday, March 23rd due to Student-Led Conferences and the beginning of SPRING BREAK! School will resume on Tuesday, April 3rd. Thank you to everyone for booking a conference time. Your child is so excited to share their learning with you Tomorrow evening or Friday during the day! 


Math

As we learn about shapes and space we have been learning some new vocabulary! 

Quadrilateral

Perimeter



We have been practicing building, drawing, labeling and writing a perimeter equation for squares. 



We also tried some building challenges to see if we could make different sized squares:







Today we were challenged to come up with Rules for a Rectangle!






Tomorrow we will continue building and labeling squares and rectangles, measuring them using non-standard units and calculating the perimeter of these shapes.

Today we continued editing for appropriate capital letters. We also began editing for periods at the end of our sentences.

Some of our stories have lots of DIALOGUE or speaking. Because of this, we have been looking at the use of QUOTATION MARKS. If we don't use quotation marks and more than one character in our story is speaking it can become very hard to understand who is speaking and when:
