ARTIST IN RESIDENCE

Today we completed our final creation with Ms. Natalie (YMCA Artist). It was a very exciting day. We built onto our initial creation by adding a self-portrait. We used mirrors to draw ourselves from whatever angle we wanted and added special details that make us unique. We used oil pastels to colour in our self-portraits and add details.

We then thought about how originally we had only put adjectives that described ourselves. This time we had to add new words that would describe how we have changed from being a part of Royal Oak Community, Royal Oak School and how our community has changed/added to us.

We used gold and silver sharpies to add our new words.

The final part was putting all of our pieces together. This was tricky and challenging but so much fun!!

We now have a finished piece that will be mounted and displayed at our Celebration of Learning in April. It will then move on to live at the Shane Homes Rocky Ridge YMCA. Eventually it will return to Royal Oak School and be a part of our School.

We posted a picture and a reflection in IRIS. Please visit IRIS with me and check it out!

Musical Interlude!

After lunch we had a special guest presentation by a parent who plays the Saxophone. We were able to listen, learn, and ask questions about playing an instrument. Ask me what my favorite part was?

Arctic Story Lessons/Titles

Today we finished writing our first copy of our Arctic Story. We added a lesson at the end that made sense for the problem in our story. We also got to come up with a TITLE! Ask me what my title is.
Tomorrow we will be make a beautiful title page/cover for our Arctic Stories.
