Insect Research and Google Slides.

For the rest of the week we are working on our Google Slides presentation on our insect that we have been researching.

Next week we will get to present our research to the class.

Our slide show should have:

-Title page
-Appearance
-Diet
-Habitat
-Life Cycle
-Predators
-Interesting Facts
-Problems facing my insect

We worked on adding images, links and short videos. We learned how to save an image to our desktop when uploading from the web is not working well.

Tomorrow we will be adding transitions, themes and finalizing our text size, font, colour and spelling.

This is the last science work that will be marked for the year. If I have not finished my work during the allocated class time and ketchup time it is highly recommended that I work on the slides at home in order to be done by this Friday June 21st,  2019. They will be marked as incomplete if not finished by then.

Writing

This week we have been writing letters to our Future Grade 3 teachers! We thought about what we want our new teacher to know about us:
How do we learn best?
What are our favorite learning activities at school?
What do I do for fun?
Anything you want your Grade 3 teacher to know about you?

We also brainstormed some questions we might have for our new teachers.

Ask me what I wanted my teacher to know about me:

Ask me which strategies I used and how I decided to show my work?

Art

Last week we started Shape Art. We will finish this art this week.

First we drew as many shapes as we could, overlapping and filling as much of the white space on the paper as we could. We had the choice of using tracers or finding objects in the room to trace or using rulers to draw our own shapes.

We then used pastel and crayon to fill in or shapes with colours. We had the choice to using a monochromatic colour scheme or using as many colours as we wanted.

This week we will finish by outlining with a paint marker. If we have white space left in the background we will also be doing a quick paint wash with an opposite colour. The crayon and pastel will resist the paint and the white spaces will be nicely filled in. Using an opposite colour will make our art POP!
