FIELD TRIP!!
Today was our first day of Open Minds school at the GRAY FAMILY YMCA at Eau Claire. We learned so much about the YMCA and the different offices and facilities it houses. Although the bus was late due to the snow and road conditions we braved the cold and had a wonderful first day of Field Study!
We participated in a step class led by Jessie and followed it with stretching our warmed up muscles.
While we toured the YMCA and Prince's Island we started thinking about our year long inquiry question:
What Can We Change?
Our challenge today was to find at least 5 things that we thought had changed or stayed the same for the last 10 years. We then sketched these things into our Visual Sketch Book. Ask me what I sketched and observed downtown:
We were also extremely excited (despite the cold) to explore the Prince's Island playground and the Eau Claire Market indoor playground.
Tomorrow is an exciting new day! So far we have 2 Volunteers for tomorrow and Wednesday. If anyone else is able to volunteer and has a security clearance please let me know. Three volunteers is perfect, as including myself our groups can be smaller (6) instead of 8. Please email me at imlagrana@cbe.ab.ca if you are interested.
Thursday and Friday we are great with 3 and 4 parent volunteers those days.
Tomorrow we will be meeting with a personal trainer. Please brainstorm tonight any questions that you might have for a personal trainer about what they do or how they do it as we will have a chance to interview them tomorrow!
Terry Fox Run
Due to the weather the Terry Fox Run at Royal Oak School will be postponed until Thursday. Mrs. Lagrana's class will not be at Royal Oak due to our week long field trip BUT we WILL be participating by running/walking for 30 minutes on the YMCA track. We will take pictures and tally our efforts to add into the Royal Oak Total. Please still continue to bring in your "Toonies for Terry".
Today we watched a video and explored the Terry Fox website and talked about who we would be running for tomorrow.

We also talked about how Terry Fox created a huge change. What did he change by running his Marathon of Hope, even though he did not finish?
