IMPORTANT! Wednesday is Storybook Character Dress Up Day- see ideas

Wednesday, May 10th:

Dress up as your favorite storybook character day at ROS!
Please see below for some easy dress up ideas I have posted and given some ideas as to how to simplify them. Please do not feel this has to be an elaborate costume, just a fun way to celebrate reading :)

Students are encouraged to dress up as a favorite storybook character and if possible, to bring the matching storybook along at school. Students will have the opportunity to share their stories and costumes with a fellow classmate or friend in another class during buddy reading activities throughout the day. Please remember to refrain from dressing as movie characters or wearing masks.

You Can make the Cat in the Hat out of white cardstock and red markers or paper!

Charlotte's Web! You can make this web out of a white garbage bag and draw the lines with Sharpie Markers or using hockey tape. Or you can use jeans or overalls and a plaid shirt and some braids to recreate the character of Fern.

Fly Guy! Just cut a band of paper to fit around your head and tape or staple it together. Then cut out two circles and glue them onto it. add the antennae with pipe cleaners!

Harry Potter! Borrow dad's black dress shirt or suit jacket! Wear a white t shirt and a tie. Do you have some extra movie glasses? How about a twig for a wand? Or how about Hermione Granger with a skirt and sweater vest and tie?

Sam I Am from Green Eggs and Ham! Do you have a yellow t-shirt? A red toque? Make a fun sign and tape it onto a rule! Grab a paper plate and draw some green eggs and ham onto it :)

I SPY! Do you have a plain-coloured t-shirt? Why don't you tape some fun items from around your house onto it! Cut a pretend giant magnifying glass out of black cardstock and hold it in the air. Afterwards, just peel the tape of and your shirt will be fine :)

Matilda! Do you have a jean skirt? a blue dress? Put on a pair of white socks and a sweater, tie a red ribbon in your hair :)

Little Miss or Mr Books!! These are easy :)
Just cut out a large piece of blue paper (as me at school, I can send on home!).  Attach  with a paper strap.

Olivia the Pig... Do you have a red dress? how about black or white tights? Can you make some pig ears out of paper and tape them on a headband?

The Paper Bag Princess... brown parcel paper from any store. just cut and tape into around you and attach two straps. Make a yellow crown out of paper :)
