3 Dimensional Nets, Calgary and Jump Rope Madness!!

Reminder: Tomorrow is our first day of Circle Fridays. We are so excited to get to know some new students, learn about something new and have the opportunity to work with some new teachers.

Math

Today we continued learning about 3 Dimensional shapes. We looked at how a 3 Dimensional shape is an object that can take up space.

Can you fill a 2 Dimensional shape with water or air?

Can you fill a 3 Dimensional shape with water or air?

We looked at a net for a cube and had to figure out how we could cut it and fold it to turn it from a flat 2 Dimensional shape two a 3-Dimensional cube.

Tomorrow we are going to continue to explore different nets and see if we can figure out from the net what the 3-Dimensional shape would be:

We talked about what shapes we saw in a cube, a sphere and a cylinder...

We will keep building and experimenting with nets to see what 3 Dimensional shapes we can create

Jump Rope for Heart

We ended the day outside, participating in the Jump Rope for Heart challenge. It was a beautiful day and we did not get rained on at all! The oranges were a HUGE success and were devoured within minutes! Thank you to parent council for making sure all classes had oranges to end the day with after so much heart healthy exercise!

CALGARY

We are inquiring into our 3rd and final community in Canada... Calgary! An amazing opportunity for our students to build upon their knowledge of our city from Grade 1, and now consider it within the context of Canadian communities. We are beginning to look at the landmarks and symbols that represent our prairie community.
