Math, Grid Drawings and Adventure Stories!

Math

Today we continued working on practising numerous strategies to solve addition and subtraction equations. Ask me which strategy I tried today and which one I found helpful?

We practiced solving the equation 23+47 using:

1. Tally Marks

2. Ten-Frames

3. Hundreds Charts

Ask me which strategy worked best for me and why I like it?

The Best Part of Me

Today we finished our "The Best Part of Me" writing. We used grid drawing to replicate our photograph. This is a strategy where you copy/draw what you see in each part of the square to help you draw it step by step.

Adventure Stories!

Page 4: A new friend/A new place/1st Attempt

1.What does your bug see in the first community it goes to? If your bug went to Calgary first how would it know that it was in Calgary?

2. Your bug meets a friend. Who is the first animal that he meets in the community of Calgary? Describe the animal and what it is doing? They meet and become friends.

3.The Friends decide to go together to try to find what is lost.
They go to a different landmark/place/land in Calgary
Where else does your friend suggest looking and how are you going to get there?

Tomorrow we will travel to a different community with our new friend and try to find what we are missing.
