Reminders: Book orders went home for October last week Friday. If you are interested in ordering please submit your orders online or send in your cheque and filled out flyer by Monday October 14th. This will ensure that if you are ordering Halloween books that you recieve them before the 31st.

Halloween 2019

Royal Oak is excited to invite students to wear their Halloween costumes on October 31st. Please have students come dressed in their costume in the morning (PM Kindergarten & EDC, please come ready in the afternoon!).

Please have your child practice getting in and out of their costume so they can independently dress for washroom breaks.  We ask that costumes do not include: masks, weapons, accessories, or blood/gore.

Regular learning activities will continue throughout the day. Students will get the opportunity to share their costumes with each other by participating in a parade in the halls at 9:30 am. This year, parents are invited to watch the parade in the gym. Please arrive a few minutes early to find a seat. PM Kindergarten students are also invited to watch the parade in the morning, and will have their own parade in their classrooms in the afternoon. In keeping with learning about healthy eating, please do not send any special treats or snacks to share.

We look forward to seeing all of your costumes!

Literacy

This week in Literacy we have been practicing Thinking while we read. One way to help us remember our thinking and to be able to talk about it is to use THINKMARKS!

We have been practicing reading articles about insects and using THINKMARKS to document our ideas, make note of interesting and important parts of the text, and notice things that are confusing us.

Math

Today in Math we did our very first Gallery Walk. We had to walk around and make post-it note feeback, questions and comments about our classmates math.

Ask me what I learned and what I would do different next time?

James and the Giant Peach

Today we read chapters 12-16 of James and The Giant Peach. Today we praticed following along in our own book as the teacher read aloud.

We sure met lots of new characters in the story:
