Homework!!
Over Spring Break please continue practicing your Breaking News article of choice. Student's will be bringing these articles home to practice over break. They have made Think Marks during literacy and annotated their articles to remember where they want to add excitement or expression.
They have also been practicing how to read to an audience and get them hooked and wanting to hear more!
Please have your child practice as this as much as possible over the break. Then record them reading like a news reporter and upload the video to IRIS. They will be sharing the first week back at school. They can use fun props like ties, lab coats, microphones, stethoscopes, etc.

Math Problem Solving and Subtraction
This week we have been solving word problems using CUBES as a strategy to help us remember all of the steps.
When we are solving word problems it is important to read the whole question and circle, box and underline before attempting to evaluate and solve so that we are sure what the question is asking us to do!
Here are some important math words that help us to know what kind of problem we are solving:
Or Addition?
We have been practicing subtraction problems and what to do when you don't have enough and need to regroup (borrow) more to solve!
We have been practicing the strategy of stacking by putting the numbers on top of each other in a T-Chart. We have been drawing and using base ten blocks to build the number we are taking away from.
We have also been looking at some subtraction rules:

CIRCLE MEETING
Today during our Circle Meeting we talked about how we can resolve conflict in the classroom. Sometimes when we work in groups or partners we might have a conflict. We have been working on recognizing when we can solve these problems through talking, brainstorming and polite interaction and when we might need help.
Today we role played some different problems and acted out using the Conflict Corner and Calming Carpet area to brainstorm some solutions. Ask me what I brainstormed and what scenario I role played with my partner.
