This week we have been looking for new and interesting words when we read. We are making note of words that sound interesting but that we are unsure of what they mean. We are practicing using the dictionary to define these words, use them in a sentence all in order to continue to expand our vocabulary and become better readers.
We read an article about the Arctic.
We had to circle any interesting and unknown words.
We then used a graphic organizer to help us understand one of our chosen words more deeply:

Tomorrow is BOOK TRUCK! We are excited to finally get another turn at this and pick out an exciting new book from the Calgary Public Library!
Snow Globe Writing
Today we continued writing using the snow globe book as inspiration for our own snow globe adventure. We came up with as many descriptive words as we could, using the 5 senses as a guide. These words will help us to write a descriptive paragraph about our snow globe.
Ask me what I am going to be doing in my snow globe?
What does it feel like inside?
What does it look like? Shape, color, size, design?
As we complete our descriptive paragraph we will be using a rubric and class written examples to help us self-assess our work:
