Roller Coaster Math
(we have used roller coasters to examine subtraction on an open
*ask me about this picture and how I can think about subtraction! Remember that some people won a contest and are not getting off the coaster. Their seats are not available!
There is another side to this rollercoaster. Students were asked to draw the same rollercoaster from above, like from a 'birds eye' view. Do they see doubles? How would you calculate how many people can get onto the coaster.
